Rodanthe, NC, April 13, 2011 – John Jacobs, nationally-known co-founder of the Life is good brand of clothing and accessories, will make an appearance at the Roadanthe Life is good storeÒ on May 27th from 4 to 5 p.m. and at the Nags Head Life is good store May 28th from 4 to 5 p.m. Mr. Jacobs will be signing copies of Life is good: Simple Wisdom from Jake and Rocket – a book he coauthored with his brother and Life is good co-founder, Bert Jacobs. The brothers use the book as a fundraising tool for the Life is good kids Foundation, an organization established to help kids overcome life-threatening challenges; 100 percent of Life is good's profits from book sales at the event will be donated to the Foundation.
Both the Rodanthe and Nags Head Life is good stores are a part of the kitty hawk kites family of companies and, as stand-alone stores devoted to the brand, are considered Life is good Genuine Neighborhood Shoppes. The stores offer a complete line of clothing and accessories, much of it featuring Jake, the happy-go-lucky stick figure who represents the brand, and his dog Rocket. Brothers John and Bert Jacobs have come a long way from the days of selling t-shirts from the back of their van on college campuses and at street festivals. With just $78 in the bank, they launched The Life is good Company in 1994. The brand they developed, featuring optimistic, upbeat messages and colorful apparel, has grown into a $100 million business sold in retail locations throughout the United States and in 30 countries.
While on the outer banks, Mr. Jacobs and members of his family will be participating in various Kitty Hawk Kites recreation activities, including hang gliding and kiteboarding.
