Sunset Festival
Join us for the FREE Sunset Festival at Jockeys Ridge Crossing. Enjoy some great activities and fun while you shop at some of the best stores on the beach. The Outer Banks has one of the best places to view the evening sunset on Jockeys Ridge Sand Dunes. Stop by the Kitty Hawk Kites store to pick up a kite to fly while watching the sunset. Life on a Sandbar has a little bit of everything, including sand art projects, cool hair wraps/braids, mermaids, and beautiful jewelry. Try some of the best homemade ice cream in the Outer Banks at Jockey’s Ridge Creamery and some amazing fudge at the Fudgery. Make sure to stop by the Kitty Hawk Surf Co. for some of the best deals for Hobie Kayaks and browse great new items from Salty Crew, Vans, Hurley, and more.
Private Sunset Cruises
Colorful, vivid sunsets in the Outer Banks can truly be one of the most breathtaking experiences during your visit. Create the memory of a lifetime by experiencing our sunsets from the water in a private pontoon charter with Captain Randy. Captain Randy is well experienced in the channels and islands that make up the Roanoke Sound. Listen to the stories of the Sound while the sun sets over the calm sound side waters. Feel free to bring your own snacks, coolers, picnic dinners, and drinks aboard the cruise.
Sunset Sailing Cruise
Enjoy our sailing cruise over the waters of the Albemarle Sound in our beautiful 41 foot Tartan offshore cruising Ketch, the “Movin’ on”. The sailboat max capacity is 6 people in addition to the crew. Be sure to ask what time we cast off because the sun sets at different times all summer. Bring the whole family or your significant other. If the conditions are right, you could be in for a spectacular sunset experience. You may bring your own refreshments and snacks along for the cruise. Beer, wine, or champagne are welcome (no bottled beer, cans only).
Sunset Dolphin Tour
Join us on a unique eco-tour to search for wild Atlantic bottlenose dolphins and view the wildlife of the Outer Banks. Aboard our covered 40-foot pontoon boat, you will observe bottlenose dolphins, pelicans, and osprey. Trained onboard naturalists will provide a fascinating commentary on the history of the Outer Banks and describe the life history and behavior of bottlenose dolphins. Learn about the research that the Outer Banks Center for Dolphin Research has been conducting on these local bottlenose dolphins for the past 12 years. A great trip for families and people of all ages! The boat has a lavatory, and drinks and snacks are for sale on board.
Sunset Kayak Tours
Sunset Kayak Tours can be one of the best ways to enjoy a world-famous Outer Banks Sunset. Kitty Hawk Kites offers several sunset kayak experiences from Corolla all the way to Hatteras Island. The Corolla Salt Marsh Tour is a notable informational and scenic tour. Discover the tales of bird migrations and the men who chased them. Search the shores for wildlife. Listen as our guides tell of lighthouses, horses, natives, and nature here on the Outer Banks while taking in one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world.
Twilight Fishing Trips
With spectacular sunset views and all fishing equipment provided, a twilight trip on the new, double-decker Miss Oregon Inlet II head boat is a great way to end your Outer Banks Day! Our crew works hard to make sure all ages and all skill levels of fisherman have a wonderful time on the water. Oregon Inlet and the surrounding waters abound with many species of fish. Want to join the fun but not fish? Join us on the deck to watch the sunset and search for sea turtles, porpoise, pelicans, and so much more!
We look forward to sharing our unforgettable Outer Banks sunsets with you soon. Where is your favorite place to watch the sunset?
