Have You Been Hang Gliding Yet?

When people think of the Outer Banks, one of the first things they think of is flight. As home to the Wright Brother’s National Memorial and boasting the title of Birthplace of Flight, the Outer Banks has a rich history with human’s pursuit to fly through the sky like a bird.

Since 1974, Kitty Hawk Kites has been providing that opportunity to the world. Hang Gliding is a thrilling and freeing experience. As the largest hang gliding school in the world, we have taught over 400,000 students ranging in age from 4 to 92. That makes this adventure perfect for families and groups of all ages.

Now that the Outer Banks summer season is in full swing, so is our hang gliding schedule. Our instructors are excited to teach you how to fly! Our dune hang gliding lessons take place at Jockey’s Ridge State Park in Nags Head. The dunes of Jockey’s Ridge allow us to take advantage of the smooth and consistent ocean breezes and give us soft sand for landings. We also operate out of the Cotton Gin in Jarvisburg, where we offer tandem hang gliding flights that climb to altitudes over 2000 feet. Book your flights below.

As always, safety is our number one concern. In addition to our standard safety protocols, we have increased our cleaning procedures, we are requiring our crew to wear masks, and are implementing social distancing practices to keep our students and instructors safe and healthy.
