There are many wildlife centers here on the outer banks. One that we work closely with is the Outer Banks Center for Dolphin Research (OBCDR). OBCDR promotes the conservation and research of Bottlenose Dolphins along the Outer Banks of north carolina. Currently they are focusing on the seasonal abundance and moving patterns of the species. OBCDR has come to recognize specific dolphins that populate our waters during the summer season. Onion, Fatlip, Sinatra, Rake, Sequoia, Jack, Wendy, and FB708 are just some of the dolphins that come back year after year and have a special place in the hearts of our staff.
Book a dolphin tour with us to experience these amazing animals up close! Our Nags Head- Whalebone location has an informational walking tour that you can guide yourself on to learn more about this amazing species that call Outer Banks home! Everyone who visits the beach should learn about wildlife. Who knows, maybe you'll learn something you can pass on to someone else! We can't wait to see you this summer! And remember to take care of the environment while you are here. Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints.
