Could there be a more natural place to hold the World Championships of Surf Kayaking (WCSK) than the outer banks? We're pretty sure that the 200+ elite competitors who are converging on the Outer Banks for this biennial event will leave asking themselves that same question.
If you're in town and interested in seeing surf kayaking on the Outer Banks at its finest, just drop by Jennette's Pier in Nags Head. The event's judging stands (tastefully clad in Kitty Hawk Kites and Kitty Hawk Surf Co. regalia, no less) are set up just South of the pier entrance.
And while we're on the subject of kayaking, you may find yourself itching to get a boat of your own. Pop on over to Kitty Hawk Surf Co. and see their huge selection of hobie, Wilderness Systems, Necky, and ocean kayak boats. There's also a used kayak sale going on right now at our Nags Head location in the Jockey's Ridge Crossing center, just across from Jockey's Ridge State Park.
So, good luck to the kayaker competitors. And welcome to the Outer Banks — the perfect surf kayak destination.
